The Women in Global business program is an innovative joint initiative of the Australian, State and Territory governments to support Australian businesswomen to trade and invest internationally. The program was launched on 1 December 2010. The main objective of the program is to increase female participation in international trade and investment delivering increased economic benefit and job creation through greater diversity. The program will feature a range of a number of speakers including Australian consul-general and trade commissioner in Japan Wendy Holdenson, representatives from Austrade San Francisco, Austrade Japan and local case study speakers.

ACT Trade Connect Program – Export Grants

TradeConnect (TCon) assists ACT companies build global opportunities and enhance their international competitiveness through an off-shore representation model and small ‘step-up’ funding grants that will facilitate access to an additional range of professional services and activities. There is a continuous application process for the program, with bi-monthly assessments. New exporters applying for funding will be assessed as being export capable in conjunction with the local Austrade Senior Export Adviser or TradeStart Adviser.

SA Export Grants -Gateway Business Program

The Gateway Business Program is a South Australian Government Grant program which assists small to medium-sized firms prepare for export.
The Gateway Business Program can meet eligible expenses incurred in developing international markets. Successful applicants may receive a grant of up to $20,000 over two years for eligible projects. Individual project caps range between $2,000 and $10,000. The Gateway Business Program will assist established local companies which can show they are ready to take the next step and begin exporting. To be eligible, an applicant must have been in business for at least two years and turn over more than $150,000 a year.

EMDG 2009 shortfall in funds for claims above $50,000

The popular Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) scheme has attracted an unexpectedly high number of applications from Australian exporters this year. The extra demand demonstrates the success of Australian exporters in weathering the Global Financial Crisis but it also means there is a funding shortfall for larger grant claims.

There are approximately 1,450 companies (30 per cent of grant recipients) likely to be approved for grants in excess of $50,000. These companies are expected to be paid at the rate of between 50 and 70 cents in the dollar on the balance of their claims above $50,000.
