The Government faced urgent challenges in the wake of the floods that have devastated large parts of eastern Australia. Reductions in spending and other sacrifices had to be made to help the nation fund the recovery. As part of the response, the Government has closed applications to the Green Car Innovation Fund. All contractual commitments and grant offers made by the Government through the Fund will be honoured; and applications received as at 27 January will be processed.
Green Car Innovation Funds Put Aussie Engine Technology In Chinese Car

The Green Car Innovation Fund grant will help Orbital to develop its FlexDI engine management and combustion system to be tested on engines and in vehicles for Changan Automobile. Orbital Australia has been awarded a $440,413 grant to develop greener engine technology for Chinese automaker Changan Automobile. The fund provides grants from $100,000 for projects that enhance the research, development and commercialisation of Australian technologies that reduce the fuel consumption and/or greenhouse gas emissions of passenger motor vehicles.
