EMDG (Export Market Development Grant) is an Australian Federal Government assistance program for aspiring and current Australian exporters. This years application are now open from 1 July 2012 till 30th Nov 2012 to claim rebates on expenses from the 2011-12 financial year (first time applicants can claim the last 2 years).
There are no changes to the current regulations this year so the program continues to reimburse up to 50% of eligible export promotion expenses above $10,000 provided that the total expenses are at least $20,000. Maximum rebate is $150,000 and the maximum number of claims is 7 grants.
Last year 3,277 applications were received by Austrade of which about 28% were first time applicants. All provisionally approved grants for the year were paid in full with a second tranche payout factor of 100 cents in the dollar.
Applications close 30 November 2012 and Austrade encourages earlier submissions, well before the deadline for faster processing.
EMDG initial payment for 2012
The EMDG initial payment this year will be capped at $60,000. Second tranche payments for grants greater than this amount will be determined from the final pool amount at a later date.
