The Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) amounts for Round 3 have been set. Austrade announced the following maximum grant payouts for FY 2023-24 (payments due end of FY24):

• Tier 1: up to $12,000
• Tier 2: up to $20,000
• Tier 3: up to $30,000
• Representative bodies: up to $45,000

NOTE:  Round 1 and Round 2 recipient payments are already locked in and will not change.

EMDG is a key Australian government financial assistance program for aspiring and current exporters. Administered by Austrade, the EMDG supports a wide range of industry sectors and products, including ICT, manufacturers, inbound tourism and the export of intellectual property and know-how outside Australia.

EMDG Round 3 Grant Agreements

According to Austrade, the grant amounts were determined by the (a) number of eligible applications in the round, and (b) total funding available to be shared among all eligible applicants.

Eligible Round 3 applicants are set to receive their agreements this July 2023 for either:

• 1 year to successful applicants who planned expenditure for FY 2023-24
• 2 years to successful applicants who planned expenditure over FY 2023-24 and FY 2024-25

To accept a grant agreement, you’ll need to login to the EMDG online portal using your myGovID after notification by email. Once you receive your Round 3 grant agreement, you will have 21 days to review and sign it.

Round 1 and 2 Milestone Reports

The EMDG online portal will be open for Round 1 and Round 2 milestone reports for expenditures incurred during the FY 2022-23 from Monday, 10 July 2023, and will close on 31 October 2023.

Milestone reporting is part of the grant agreement before any payments will be made to you by Austrade for the financial year regardless of your spend. If you already received a grant payment for expenditure incurred in FY 2022-23 you are still required to submit your milestone report. Austrade uses your milestone report to assess your progress against your planned activities and to establish if you have met the goals identified in your plan to market.
