The Solar Hubs Program is a Victorian Government funding grant program to help deliver 8.6MW of community based solar power across Victoria by 2013. There is up to $5 million funding available which aims to deliver up to 10 ‘solar energy hubs’
The program was announced as part of the Jobs for the Future Economy – Victoria’s Action Plan for Green Jobs (Action 7) by the Premier of Victoria (see link at the bottom of the page).
This program will help communities reduce their carbon footprint, support innovation, develop Victoria’s domestic PV sector, educate and inform potential adopters of PV technology as well as driving investment and job creation in the solar sector across Victoria.
A consultation process was undertaken from 29 July to 6 August 2010 with stakeholders in metropolitan and regional areas. Over 115 representatives from local councils, environmental groups, community organisations, businesses and the solar industry participated in these sessions. The feedback from the participants has been used to assist in developing the program. The presentation for stakeholder consultation sessions can be downloaded for your information (see ‘Downloads’ at bottom of page).
Round 1 of the Solar Hubs program is open for applications from 16 August 2010 until 29 September 2010. Up to 3 rounds will be offered.
