The Smart Water Fund is now accepting funding applications for innovative water management projects under the Open Innovation Stream. The Fund will consider funding applications in the range of $100,000 to $500,000.
Funding will be available to undertake innovative projects that deliver new or enhanced knowledge, products or solutions that contribute towards sustainable urban water management. Projects being proposed for funding must have a demonstrated need and benefit to the Victorian water utilities and the customers they serve. Applications with wider national or international relevance are also encouraged.
Organisations, researchers, innovators, consultants and individuals are invited to apply.
New application process and criteria for 2011 funding offer
Funding decisions will be made in line with the Fund’s key investment priority areas as outlined in the Strategic Plan.
It is important for potential applicants to note that there are new eligibility and assessment criteria for the Open Innovation Stream. Prospective applicants are urged to carefully review the new application guidelines and criteria before submitting an application to the Fund.
The Funding Information and Guidelines can be downloaded along with an application form by clicking here.
A key change from previous Smart Water funding offers is the move to a two-stage application process.
Stage 1 requires prospective applicants to submit a brief project Expression of Interest to the Fund outlining the key project objectives, timelines, deliverables, costs, benefits, and expected outcomes.
Stage 2 will see those Expressions On Interest shortlisted, invited to submit a more detailed project proposal for final funding consideration.
Application and assessment timeline
Stage one applications will be accepted from Thursday 3 March until 2pm Friday 8 April 2011.
Applicants will be advised of the funding decisions in writing approx 2-4 weeks after the closing date.
Shortlisted applicants will have approx six weeks from the date of notification to submit a Stage 2 detailed project proposal.
Stage 2 applications for Smart Water Fund Open Innovation Stream funding will be assessed by the Fund’s Investment Review Committee and successful funding recipients will be notified in approx July 2011.
