Overview
The Victorian State Government, in conjunction with the Defence Materiel Organisation, is seeking Victorian businesses with capabilities in the defence sector to participate in a Team Defence Australia (TDA) Defence and Aerospace mission to the USA from 13 to 20 May 2015. $2000 grant subsidy for airfares and accommodation is available.
Calling for Applications
The Victorian State Government, in conjunction with the Defence Materiel Organisation, is seeking applications from Victorian businesses with capabilities in the defence sector to participate in a Team Defence Australia (TDA) Defence and Aerospace mission to the United States from 13 to 20 May 2015. In 2013 the United States accounted for 35% of the US$1.7 trillion global defence spend, which was significantly higher than the next five biggest markets combined. If you work in the defence sector you need to be on this mission.
About the TDA Defence and Aerospace Mission
The mission will follow on from the success of previous defence and aerospace missions to the USA in 2013 and 2014. To further build on its profile, the 2015 mission will be delivered in collaboration with the Australian Government Defence Materiel Organisation and other state governments, providing access to an even greater range of target organisations. Previous missions have featured meetings with some of the world’s largest defence organisations including:
- Lockheed Martin
- SAIC
- General Dynamics
- Northrup Grumman
- BAE Systems
- U.S. Department of Defense Comparative Technology Office
- U.S. Army Logistics Agency
In addition to qualified meetings with leading defence industry organisations, mission participants will have access to a bespoke program including defence industry training, industry briefings and high level networking functions.
Eligibility
Space on the this mission is limited, and preference will be given to organisations that meet TDA’s selection criteria:
- Is the company export ready?
- Does the company manufacture in Australia?
- Does the company support the Australian Defence Force?
- Does the company produce a unique or ‘niche’ product or service?
- Does the company produce a product or service that supports a Priority Industry Capability?

Trade Mission Assistance Program (TMAP)
